Ads and Ramadan

Some nice  marketing practice used by the multinationals and food chains during Ramadan…Some of them are quit smart and well done but in general instead of being creative they are just copying each other.if you find some more plz send me link.

woop woop!!! just got the approval from the client over the website I designed-

It’s for a nursery in Dubai, they already have a website but it ‘s Flash based so very very heavy to upload so they wanted to stay in the same spirit as colours and menu but this time html version- The up banner is going to be a flash animation that I m also working on (yes Sir I am learning Flash and I LUUURVE it )-the pictures are dummy ones for now.check it out and leave me comments!!please?…

Hop Fest 2009

Foe the past 4 years, Hop fest dubai have been using the same flyer over and over again…..The concept is nice but the layout-typo and colors of the flyers sucks!!

For infusion magazine’s front cover I decided to change it..just a bit! tell me if you like it

Little Red Riding Hood or the perversion beneath

There is something about reinventing a story that everyone knows and making it your own…there is something about bringing back into existence stories your parents used to tell you before you go to sleep; bedtime stories you’ll dream about, around and of all night long…all the night…When I was a kid ,Little Red Riding Hood seemed to me more scary than cute-lets put it this way ,I had this ability to turn words into images, I used to take every single  verb, name, adjective that I could hear and turn them into a farandole of crazy characters that sometimes scared the hell out of me… the little girl with her red cape like the opera’ s phantom , her white skin like a dead bride -why was she sent alone to see her grandma? What kind of mother would leave her daughter out so late? This wolf , those teeth, the perversity in his eyes…the grandma-dead-in the wolf stomach, the hunter cutting the wolf stomach…blood, insanity, disgrace disturbing my innocent imagination. It was Tim Burton’ s playground inside my mind -making me wish I didn’t have such caring parents who would read me bedtime stories … This is HOW i have two versions of this immortal but yet not universally loved tale: the one I used to tell myself to stop nightmares and the one I recently discovered when reading between the lines of this controversial story.

The first version was made in my 5 years old imaginary -not really interesting –everything  is pure – everyone is doing what they are expected to do : her having all the good intention and him just wanting to eat her because let’s face it: he’s a wolf – and finally the good girl wins and the bad wolf goes to prison. Typical!

the second version, the one I discovered as an adult makes you think again before wanting to read this story to kids: did you know that in the Ancient  French slang, when a girl lost her virginity it was said that “ elle avait vû le loup” — she’d seen the  wolf…coincidence??
For me It is not she but her adversary who is duped. She knew what to expect coming there in the wood all alone,  all dressed in red …He was just following his animal instinct ,she was driven by her own  perversion and  the need of following the wrong path , at least to try see if she likes it : alcohol, drugs, easy money…

Spirited away for 10 days…

Left my mind here for a while and took my heart there…

I saw the people I love …my family…looked at them and tried to freeze in my mind every single detail of their face ;how they get angry, how they feel happy, how they laugh out loud, how they cry secretly, the way they move, the way they talk, what they do when they think nobody is looking at them ..I tried to answer questions that I can’t answer when I am far away: are they happy? do they follow their dreams?do they go out?do they eat well?…I tried to smell their skin and keep it somewhere in my nose…I tried to photograph their eyes so I can look at them when i miss them…I tried to hug them as often as I could…I tried to make the best of every second because you know…we might never be the same person again…

I visited the country I adore…my Lebanon…Looked at it and tried to freeze in my mind every single road,building, restaurant, mountain,cloud;How the plane lands and people begin to clap ,How the walls of my city are all dirty ,How I smell the good parfum of yasmin in the alley of Nabatieh, How I eat knefe in the morning and my stomach hurts for the rest of the day,…How the kids just walk the street without any adult watching them…How the food taste different,good different…How when I  take the bus , pay only 500 Lebanese pounds and feel like I traveled the world…How 50% of the girl are high maintenance and the other 50% are hippies…How you are not judge by the color of your skin but by the color of your political parties…how I complain about everything when i am there but I miss those same annoying details when i am away…I tried my best to remember everything because who knows…I might never go back…

Her Morning elegance

Her Morning Elegance Directed by Oren Lavie, Yuval & Merav Nathan ,a remarkable music video that I needed to share with you.A simple idea taken to a high level of creativity and a truely beautiful artistic video that show visual loveliness through music videos.

some facts about it:

* The video was shot all stills – roughly 3225 still photos for the entire video, using one camera, hanging from the ceiling for the main body of the movie.
* It took 4 weeks before shooting to create an animated computer generated storyboard for the video, with 3d dummies for the characters.
* It took only 2 days of shooting for the live actors on set to re-create the 3.5 minutes computer sequence, frame by frame.

An Old man’s secret garden

… I saw this picture of a girl sitting on a chair and I thought I would make a controversial art out of it… an old man in a dress…in a fragile position…some tattooes on him because I imagined all his life he was trying to be someone he’s not and the real him was there, sitting on this chair, surrounded by all his childhood memories…an old man in his secret garden…what do you think??
